Happy Earth Day! In honor of today’s special celebratory event, I wanted to share an amazing green project that needs your support. It combines pop culture, children’s toys and the environment – all things that I have been obsessed with for years.
The project is featured on the website LEGO CUUSOO. On this website people share their ideas for cool LEGO set concepts, and if they get up to 10,000 supporters to like their idea, LEGO will actually consider it for production. The latest project to receive 10,000 supporters is called The Winchester – Shaun of the Dead, and it definitely does a great job replicating the characters from the zombie flick.
So, what’s the name of the project? It’s called Green Guardians, and it was inspired by the maker Bravo Blocks’ 7-year-old son, who randomly asked him if there were heroes for Earth. So, to answer his question, Bravo
Blocks decided to make some heroes of his own. He designed a LEGO project whose theme was about environmental heroes fighting polluting villains.
Some of the heroes include Dr. Sara Nova, lead scientist of the Green Guardians who uses her knowledge of geology to battle the bad guys, and Rod Iron, a mechanic/surfer who hopes to rid the ocean of toxic ooze that gets in his way of a good wave.
Bad guys include members of the evil agents of GOOP (the Global Organization of Pollution), who pollute the environment in all areas of land, air, water and space. Syphon is an evildoer who creates marine-like machines that pollute the water, and Windy Wendy is an engineer and climatologist who makes it her mission to pollute all fresh air.

I think that this is an amazingly creative and educational project that should become a reality. Plus, who doesn’t love LEGOS!
